Weaponize Your Pentium II

   Posted by: admin   in Humour

Subtitle: Yes, I have way too much time and spare parts…

Now, you might think that, given the order of posts, the following project was inspired by the Conan Night I held last weekend, but the two are fairly unrelated. Actually, the inspiration for the following project came during the winter when I started to set aside some heat sinks from old PII Slot 1 processors, just because I thought they were a neat and nasty looking piece of industrial design. See for yourself:

Pentium II Slot 1 Processor and Heatsink

Pentium II Slot 1 Processor and Heatsink

Any rational human being is going to take one look at that hunk of metal and think to himself: “I can make a weapon out of that.” At least this human being thought that. And I’m pretty rational. Most of the time anyway.

So the idea emerged to wrap them around the head of a baseball bat and create a nice looking mace. Problem was my boss frowns on me making weapons on company time (go figure), and my shop at home isn’t heated, so I had to wait for spring to get a chance to work on it.

Stage one was basically gathering up the parts I’d need. I collected four heatsinks from the old slot 1 processors, and some neat memory heatsinks from some really old servers to attach as runners down the side of the bat. I ended up going out and buying the cheapest wooden bat I could find to complete the parts list. Here’s a pic of the assembled necessities should you decide to try and imitate the project.

Parts List

The Collected Parts

Stage two was squaring off the top of the bat so I could attach the heatsinks. I cut the very top, bevelled part of the bat off with a chop saw so I had a nice smooth surface on the top to mark out. Basically, to mark square, determine the centre of the bat, draw an X at right angles through the centre, and then connect the points of the X to create a square. I took a pic of the bat with the bevelled top off, but forgot to take a pic of the markings, so I photoshopped in the X and square. Oddly, I was less accurate with Photoshop than I was on the actual bat, but you get the idea.

Topped and Marked

Topped and Marked

Next was to cut vertically down the bat along the square lines I had drawn, to an apropriate depth to accommodate the heatsinks. I used a carpenter’s saw for this, and made the cut by hand, because I have pretty good control with a carpenter’s saw and can make a nice accurate cut that way. A band saw or some other mechanized means would be just as good. Just use something you feel comfortable with. Once down to depth, I used the carpenter’s saw to cut across the grain and remove the wedge at base.

Cutting the Square

Cutting the Square

NB: You can see the line I drew to mark the depth of the cut I needed.

This created a square tipped bat, but the square was just a tad small for my purposes. To increase the size of the square, I cut some shims out of 3/8″ plywood to wrap around the tip. I then glued and clamped the shims onto the tip and let that dry.

Shims and Glue

Shims and Glue

Shims Clamped and Left to Dry

Shims Clamped and Left to Dry

Leave the glue to set at least overnight. In this case, it got set aside for a week, just because I ran out of time that weekend, and didn’t get a chance to get pack to it until today.

The rest was pretty straightforward. On the squared end I created, I lined up the first heatsink, and drilled pilot holes for the screws to match the existing mounting holes in the heatsink, I made sure to line up the first heatsink well, because all the other heatsinks would be based on the placement of the first. The third pic in the following series is just me lining up the second heatsink. Make sure to drill a small pilot hole for every screw, so you don’t crack the wood, and also so the sink doesn’t move or slip as you drive in the screws. Also, use long enough screws so that it penetrates the shims you added and gets a good purchase in the wood of the bat. It’s a good idea to use a screwdriver to drive the screws, instead of a drill driver. With the torque of a drill driver, it can be a little easy to over drill the screw, and just bore out the hole.

Pre Drilling Holes

After I finished attaching all four heatsinks, I screwed the bevelled top back on to give it a bit cleaner look.

After that, it was merely a matter of lining up the runners, pre-drilling some holes to match up with the existing mounting points of the heatsinks, and screwing them down.

Runners Attached.

And Voila! I have my own customized medieval looking mace. Kinda steampunkish in mixing modern equipment with an old design aesthetic. Only much older design than steampunk. As far as being an actual weapon goes, I really don’t recommend it. While it’s pretty well bolted together to a solid chunk of good Ash bat, the heatsinks themselves are aluminum. If you hit anything substantial with it, the aluminum spikes will just bend. Also, it has horrible balance, very tip heavy and unwieldy. Which could probably be said about real maces as well, which might be a good part of the reason they fell out of favour. Still, could you see a burglar (or door to door salesman, or JW or Mormon) arguing with me if I answered the door with that thing In my hands? I doubt it.

Three Davids, One Wogan and a lizard?

Posted by: admin   in David Cameron

Watching David Davis making his statement I was instantly transported back to the eighties and Wogan. I was open mouthed then watching another David begin a very public nervous breakdown. Thankfully unlike with David Icke, David Davis hasn’t started accusing senior government figures of being lizards - not yet.

David Davis’ statement also had a whiff of Jonathan Aitken about it, when he resigned his government post to carry wield his trusty sword of truth.

It is not clear if David Davis is a nutter or that it is his vanity that contributed to today’s impulsive behaviour. Neither of these traits is appropriate for someone who could have been Home Secretary one day.

Today David Cameron had won a get out of jail free card. The Tories used to pride themselves on being the party of law and order. Yesterday on the Today programme David Davis was going solo with party policy committing a future Conservative government to rescinding 42 days.

On David Davis’ watch the Conservatives have gone soft on terrorism. In seeking to gain short term political capital by opposing the government they have also taken a stand against the British people who are largely in favour of the government’s anti-terror proposals.

Little should be made of the appointment of Dominic Grieve. David Cameron had to make a quick replacement without getting bogged down by a full shadow cabinet reshuffle. By the time of the election David Cameron will have appointed someone more in tune with the public mood.

David Cameron will go to sleep a contented man tonight, that troublesome “What are we going to do about David Davis?” problem is no more.

UN: Taser weapons are torture

   Posted by: admin   in Announcements

TASER electronic stun guns are a form of torture that can kill, a UN committee has declared after several recent deaths in North America

taserA United Nations committee said in November, 2007 that use of Taser weapons can be a form of torture, in violation of the U.N. Convention Against Torture. Use of the electronic stun devices by police had been marked with a sudden rise in deaths - including four men in the United States and two in Canada. Canadian authorities were taking a second look at them, and in the United States, there was a wave of demands to BAN them.

The U.N. Committee Against Torture referred to the use of TaserX26 weapons which Portuguese police had acquired. An expert had testified to the committee that use of the weapons had “proven risks of harm or death”.

“The use of TaserX26 weapons, provoking extreme pain, constituted a form of torture, and that in certain cases it could also cause death, as shown by several reliable studies and by certain cases that had happened after practical use,” the committee said in a statement.

Tasers have become increasingly controversial in the United States, particularly after several notorious cases where their use by police to disable suspects was questioned as being excessive. Especially disturbing is the fact that six adults died after being tased by police in the span of a week.

In Frederick, MD, a sheriff’s deputy trying to break up a late-night brawl tased 20-year-old Jarrel Grey. He died on the spot. “I want to know what he did that was so bad?” the victim’s mother, Tanya James, said. “Did the deputy think that their life was in danger? Did he have a weapon?” The death came just weeks after Frederick police used a Taser to subdue a high school student.

Also in the same week, in Jacksonville, Fla., in two separate cases two men died after being stunned. One suspect, who fled a car crash and tried to break into a nearby home, struggled with a policeman, prompting the officer to tase him three times. The man continued to fight, and tried to bite the officer, while he was being tased. He was later pronounced dead at a hospital.

Another man died Tuesday of that week, after a Jacksonville officer pulled over his car. When the officer approached it, the man took off running. When the officer caught up with him, during a struggle, authorities say the officer used his Taser to subdue the suspect. After being placed in the back of the police car the suspect became unresponsive. He was taken to the hospital where he was pronounced dead.

In New Mexico, 20-year-old Jesse Saenz died after Raton police used a Taser to subdue him. Police say Saenz was struggling and fighting with them as they attempted to take him into custody. Saenz died after being transported to a county jail.

A Polish man died at Vancouver airport after being Tasered by Canadian police. The man, Robert Dziekanski, 40, fell to the ground and died after the police officers piled on top of him. It was caught on a handheld video camera by a tourist. That horrifying video shows Robert Dziekanski, a Polish man who spoke no English, become increasingly agitated. He was shocked twice, and then died. More than a dozen people have died in Canada after being hit by Tasers in the last four years.

Taser International, based in Scottsdale, AZ, released a statement following the Vancouver Airport incident saying no deaths have ever been definitively connected to what the company describes as: “the low-energy electrical discharge of the Taser.” That’s 50,000 volts.

“The video of the incident at the Vancouver airport indicates that the subject was continuing to fight well after the TASER application,” Taser International said. “This continuing struggle could not be possible if the subject died as a result of the Taser device electrical current causing cardiac arrest. [Dziekanski’s] continuing struggle is proof that the Taser device was not the cause of his death.”

taser“Specifically in Canada, while previous incidents were widely reported in the media as ‘Taser deaths,’ the role of the Taser device has been cleared in every case to date,” Taser said.

While the medical questions about causes of death are not resolved, Cox said this is precisely why more study is needed. “Nobody really knows exactly why these people are dying, we only know that people are dying after they’re tasered,” he said. “It’s nearly 300 people who have died in the United States - they’re tasered, and then they die.”

“It may be because they have a heart condition. It may be because they’re on drugs. It may be because of some other factor that we don’t know about. The important thing is, they are dying after they are tasered. That cannot be denied, no matter how you spin the language.”

Amid a growing outcry, civil rights groups are urging police to put down their Tasers until more research is done.

“The danger of Tasers is that they seem safe, they seem easy and therefore I think it’s natural that police will be inclined to use them much more quickly than they would ever use a gun,” Cox told Chen. “Most of the cases we’ve looked at, there’s been no weapon involved at all [on the part of the suspect], let alone a deadly weapon” Cox said, “so these are not situations where necessarily the police officer sees a threat”.

“The penalty for resisting arrest should not be death,” Cox said.

krAzykrAkr01:
Tasers are becoming the “convenient” weapon of the Police State. It has been almost a year since these incidents happened. Despite all this, taser weapons are used more and more frequently across N. America. Supposedly non-lethal, so there is built in deniability. Did our grandfathers go fight the Nazi’s so that we could let them take the country at a later date? Was the American Revolution just a negotiation with England to rent the colonies for a certain amount of time, and now that lease is up? We can not continue to let tyranny engulf the United States and the Planet.

Does the Sun Come Up in the Morning?

   Posted by: admin   in Announcements

Kurt Nimmo
Infowars

Dead civilians in South Ossetia. But you will not hear much about it on CNN or Faux News. Because they are too busy reporting ad nauseam about the extramarital shenanigans of CFR darling John Edwards. In order to find out what’s really going on in Georgia, you have to read the international press on the internet. Bush, McCain, and Obama may cast blame on Russia, but reading the international press you get a different perspective.

Russia accuses U.S. of orchestrating conflict

“Russian officials believe that it was the USA that orchestrated the current conflict. The chairman of the State Duma Committee for Security, Vladimir Vasilyev, believes that the current conflict is South Ossetia is very reminiscent to the wars in Iraq and Kosovo,” reports Pravda, the Russian newspaper.

Recall the CIA admitting it “helped to train the Kosovo Liberation Army before Nato’s bombing of Yugoslavia,” according to The Sunday Times. The KLA is a perfect outfit for the CIA. “Known for its extensive links to Albanian and European crime syndicates, the KLA was supported from the outset in the mid-1990s by the CIA and Germany’s intelligence agency, the Bundes Nachrichten Dienst (BND). In the course of the 1999 war, the KLA was supported directly by NATO,” writes Michel Chossudovsky. “The KLA had extensive links to Al Qaeda, which was also involved in military training. Mujahideen mercenaries from a number of countries integrated the ranks of the KLA, which was involved in terrorist activities as well as political assassinations.” Of course, “links to Al Qaeda” translate into links to the CIA.

“The things that were happening in Kosovo, the things that were happening in Iraq - we are now following the same path. The further the situation unfolds, the more the world will understand that Georgia would never be able to do all this without America. South Ossetian defense officials used to make statements about imminent aggression from Georgia, but the latter denied everything, whereas the US Department of State released no comments on the matter. In essence, they have prepared the force, which destroys everything in South Ossetia, attacks civilians and hospitals. They are responsible for this. The world community will learn about it,” Vasilyev told Pravda.

Indeed, the world will learn about it, but not by way of America’s corporate media, more interested in the entirely meaningless baby-making of Clay Aiken and Jaymes Foster. Bread and circuses shall suffice in America.

U.S. loads up Georgia with weapons to fight “al-Qaeda”

The Federation of American Scientists website reveals that Georgia

is the most recent recipient of U.S. weapons and aid, receiving 10 UH-1H Huey helicopters (four for spare parts only) and $64 million in military aid and training to fight Arab soldiers with alleged ties to Al Qaeda that have been participating in the Chechen war and are now taking refuge in the Pankisi Gorge region in northern Georgia. Like many of the recent aid recipients, claims that Georgia has become an al Qaeda sanctuary are dubious at best.

“The rapid increase in US strategic influence in the Caucasus has alarmed Russian policy planners. Moscow is keen to take steps to shore up its eroding position in the region. However, Russian officials have limited options with which to counter US moves while at the same time maintaining cordial relations with Washington,” Eurasia.net reported on April 8, 2002. “The most prominent US moves in the Caucasus are the decision to dispatch military advisers to Georgia and a March 29 State Department announcement on the lifting of an arms embargo imposed on Armenia and Azerbaijan. Both actions have the potential to tilt the military establishments of all three Caucasus nations away from Russia and towards NATO.”

Imagine Canada decided to enter a military and diplomatic alliance with Russia and Canada began arming itself to the teeth with Russian weapons and training with Russian military advisers. Can you guess what the reaction of Bush and the neocons would be?

It doesn’t take much imagination.

DAVID ICKE TO STAND IN ‘BIG BROTHER’ BY-ELECTION

David Icke

David Icke

David Icke stands on: ‘Big Brother - The BIG Picture’

David Icke, author of ten books warning about the Big Brother State, is standing with David Davis in the upcoming parliamentary by-election in Haltemprice and Howden.

For nearly 20 years, Icke has been been warning about, and detailing the background to, a hidden agenda for a global fascist state that is now unfolding at an ever-increasing pace.

When he began his then one-man campaign to expose the agenda of the Hidden Hand he was met with dismissal and ridicule, but there is laughter no longer among people with minds of their own because what he predicted in his books is now daily experience. As a result, enormous numbers of people worldwide are now looking at his work.

Icke’s research spans nearly two decades and has taken him so far to some 45 countries to expose and uncover the global Orwellian agenda.

His books, like … And The Truth Shall Set You Free, The Biggest Secret, Children of the Matrix, Tales from the Time Loop and his latest, The David Icke Guide To The Global Conspiracy, are now in 16 languages and Icke’s information is rapidly gaining support throughout the world.

In the next few weeks he is speaking in Romania, Croatia, Italy and the United States, with other events being planned for Australia and New Zealand. He has recently returned from speaking in Japan where he now has six books circulating in Japanese.

In May, he spoke to 2,500 people for seven hours at the Brixton Academy in London. Every seat was taken three months in advance and he could easily have filled an arena of 5,000 or more had one been available at the time. On the last occasion he spoke in Los Angeles, 3,000 people came.

While the mainstream media have ridiculed and dismissed him, others have taken the trouble to read what he is saying in detail and taken a very different view of what he is exposing - especially when the evidence is now before their eyes.

David Icke is standing in this by-election in support of the stance taken by David Davis and has no wish to be elected:

‘If I don’t get a single vote, that’s fine so long as they all go to David Davis because a vote for me or him is a combined vote against the Orwellian State that is now looking us in the eye.

‘I have absolutely no wish to be involved in the web of lies, deceit and corruption that controls the Westminster ‘Parliament’, nor would I ever pledge the obligatory allegiance to a monarch who is only head of state because of her DNA and therefore the symbol of one of the most racist institutions on the planet.

‘I swear allegiance to nothing and no-one, except my own conscience.

‘But this is an opportunity to both support David Davis in his stand against Big Brother and to highlight the fact that what is happening to our basic freedoms, liberties and privacy is far, far bigger than even Mr. Davis appears to understand.

The Big Brother State in Britain does not originate with the Labour government, sleazy and deeply corrupt as it is. The government of Blair and now Brown is merely the vehicle for the global Big Brother agenda to be introduced in the UK.

‘It is happening everywhere - is the Labour government responsible for what is being introduced in the United States, Canada, Australia, Sweden, etc. etc.? Of course not, and the bigger picture and the connections that form the global web have to be understood if the dark-suits-in-jackboots are to be stopped.’

This has gone from a mere thought to deciding to stand in just four days because of the support and encouragement David Icke has received. He says:

‘Yes, of course, the mainstream media will ridicule me, but so what’s new? I am not be doing it for them, nor to win a popularity contest, or even an election. I am doing it for those who have ears to hear and eyes to see and children and grandchildren to protect from the nightmare world that is coming so fast unless we make a stand now.’

‘There is an enormous amount of what David Davis stands for on other issues that I fundamentally disagree with, but this is a time for all colours, creeds, backgrounds and views to unite on something that affects ALL of us - the tearing down of the most basic freedoms.

And if people think they live in a Big Brother Police State now, they have seen nothing yet. What we are seeing today is just the start.’

…………………………..

A news conference to launch his campaign is planned to be held in the constituency on Tuesday, July 1st. Details to follow.

See Davidicke.com for his information and updates on his election campaign. We especially recommend the daily headlines page and the vast research archive, including the one headed ‘Big Brother’.

Police charges dropped in Katrina bridge case

   Posted by: admin   in Announcements

by Anna Driver
Reuters

Katrina 2k5HOUSTON (Reuters) - A New Orleans judge on Wednesday dismissed charges against seven policeman accused of killing two people on a bridge amid the chaos that followed Hurricane Katrina in 2005.

Criminal District Court Judge Raymond Bigelow threw out murder and attempted murder indictments, saying prosecutors had acted improperly, a clerk for the judge’s office said.

The police had been accused of shooting pedestrians on the Danziger Bridge in eastern New Orleans on September 4, 2005, just days after Hurricane Katrina inundated much of the city and stranded tens of thousands of people.

Two people were killed and four wounded in the incident, amid widespread looting and shooting. Police officers Robert Falcoun, Kenneth Bowen, Robert Gisevius and Anthony Villavaso were charged with first-degree murder.

Three other officers, Robert Barrios, Michael Hunter and Ignatius Hills, were accused of attempted murder.

All seven men had pleaded not guilty to the charges.

The case sparked outrage among the families of the victims and their supporters, who say the accused officers received preferential treatment.
